Kishwaukee River Rec
A river guide to safe recreation on the Kishwaukee River in Winnebago County
These levels and their cautions are of my own opinion. I have been wade fishing, canoe & kayaking, the Kish for 50+ years. I am a blinded, United States veteran (USMC), with failing eyesight, so learning about and knowing the levels was important to me. I kept a 10 year record log on this section of the river and designed a, (personal comfort) caution chart to help me decide whether or not I should wade fish? Kayak fish? Or,Which branch might be best? Even which stretch might be best? Many uses!

KRR MISSION
To promote river safety and bring awareness, to the Kish community, the USGS Kishwaukee River Gage, how to use it and how to understand it, by making the gage easily available for recreationalist's to use with a QR code. I hope to install a few KRR QR code signs at launch sites along the route from Cherry Valley's Baumann Park to Atwood Park in New Milford. I feel by simply doing this, it would cutdown on and even prevent, high water river rescues, which tend to happen each year on this stretch of the Kish. The cause of these rescues, in most cases, is simply people not knowing what the level of the river is, let alone, not know whether it is safe or not.
