With the forecast looking so Good I'm going to head out for 1 last trip to the Kish Sunday
My plan is to put in at Atwood and take out at Hinchcliff
I also looked at the possibility of dropping in at Oak Ridge and take out at Blackhawk Springs West, a bike ride to the drop off appears to be less distance than Hinchcliff to Atwood any info on this?
Productive area?
Or should I just do my Normal trip?
13-15 mph winds. Kayaking will be a bit rough for me. Might do a wade outing.
That would be a very simple peddle back. That south branch stretch is interesting to me. I love the habitat and have had a handful of nice outings on it. But, about 90% of the time it kicks my ass. I focused on the area for 3 straight years and got beat all three. I don’t understand it! If you were to wade the area and learn what’s on the bottom you would find it puzzling as to why they are not there? But, there are days you can take up to 30 smallies from it. I’ll try to avoid the area for you if I get out but don’t be surprised if we run into each other. Hope it fished well for. Doesn’t see much pressure all year long. Slay ‘em!
I would put-in @ Blackhawk Springs off of Perryville.Maybe paddle up the south branch a bit (not far) to the shallow area (you’ll know) and then float down to Fort Vincennes. Or paddle up if that’s what you like. I have done a paddle up on that route your talking about. It’s a good trip.
Are you talking here…
I guess I’m lost. “North end of Kishwaukee rec trail?, fort Vincennes?
I sometimes float from Oak Ridge to Kish FP. Nice float but I don’t think I would do it this time of year. You’d be looking at a couple possible portages along that route also. I wade the south this time of year. Best off sticking with your normal route if you ask me.
