Hey All,
I just wanted to touch base on where I see this newsletter going. For a few years now I have followed a number of groups/organizations associated with Kishwaukee River, all of which have great missions and goals. I would like to bring all these entities together, here in one place, Smallmouth Hunter Newsletter, The Official Newsletter of the Kishwaukee Valley. All Kish, All the Time. I believe it can be done and I believe it would be a benefit to all in the Kish community.
And I believe I'm the right guy to do it. I pretty much do it anyway, so I might as well share it.
So, for any of you that would like to contribute in any way, just let me know and I'm sure we can get it done. That goes for any of you associated with of Kish groups or organizations. Personally, I feel that it is important for KREP to be a staple in this newsletter, so I'll be reaching out to them soon.
I don't care what it is as long as the Kish is involved.
Example: Too late now but there's a farm stand out near Oak Ridge FP that I usually stop at each year. Short little article like that works. Tips, Tricks, Tactics, everything and anything Kish.
Just seems like the obvious thing to do.
I am married to the name right now.
All the Kish information in one place for all to enjoy.
And quite frankly I feel a boost in Kish recreation coming on soon. It's our river.
I hope to hear from some of you.
Now a days, J need to use the Text Speech feature on my devices, to read many of the articles I do. I thought it might be a good idea to try and include some of the blind tools and tactics I use to produce this newsletter so others, with visions impairments, can hopefully enjoy the newsletter also. Watch for the APB Audio PlayBack stamp for audio articles and information to assist the blind but for all to enjoy.
Crazy stuff. I have learned that by purposely mis-spelling, using commas and other little tricks, I can control the tone and the manner in-which the the Robot Voice speaks. The robot voice is now part of the Smallmouth Hunter Team and his name is, Todd. Eileen Wright (special effects specialist) will also supply some audio voice in the coming 2024 year. Just let me know if there is something you would like to contribute or want me to look into. I should also mention that I am adding real live human-beings to the KVN team. A local photographer has agreed to supply me with pics for the cover and I think my son and new daughter in-law, both grads of NIU Arts, will be supply custom coloring art exclusively for the KVN "Don't Let the Colors Fade Away" refridgerator door coloring QR Code fun page. Bring It!
I am excited about this newsletter direction. I am going to take a "Grassroots" approach to getting this new Kishwaukee Valley Newsletter out there. I am not going to promiss that it will be in every issue but I do plan to feature one of the Kish communities once I have the info for each put together. The November issue features New Milford. Now getting back to the Grassroots of the matter, I plan to visit a few establishments and ask to drop off a few QR code flyers and place cards. Smakk diners, doughnut shops, taverns and such.
Something to read while waiting. I'd like to get the place cards laminated a bit so water dtauns won't hurt the code and them jusy ask if I could place them on tables. Stay as long as they do. The flyer I have made up has a little pocket for little QR code csrds for people to take. Not sure if that's necessary?
Keep an eye on what I'm doing and if any of you, or the groups, clubs, orgs you are associated with wants to contribute in anyway let me know. The next village I am working on is Cherry Valley. Each Community Spotlight will feature interactive float routes, Preserve/Distric Spotlight, eateries, points of interest and more.
Oh yeah! The QR Code goes to a Landing Page with a "View Latest" button, which I can easiy change every month, therfore not having to create a new QR Code for each issue.
ssary?
Yeah, okay, I’m divorcing the Smallmouth Hunter name and going with, just simply, Kishwaukee Valley Newsletter. All your Kishwaukee information in one spot.
