I have been told that a topwater lure, whether it’s a spin lure or a fly lure, is a good option in heavily stained water. I have tried and I have failed. What are your thoughts or experiences on the matter?
I agree a popper, whopper plopper, and chatterbaits brightly colored are my go to in stained waterSometimes a flat billed shallow crank works alsoI have never really thrown buzzbaits but that is an option tooJust got a topwater rear propeller lure from Bagley in my mystery tackle box in a shad pattern I want to try I think I'm headed to the Des Plaines this weekend unless the Kish is slow enough to paddle upstreamGonna be alone so drop in and take out need to be the same
Top water was working today (6/16/20) in heavy stain. Not chocolate milk but maybe 10 inches of clarity. Picked up 5 two of which were about 17 inches.
