That’s why I fish it. During week days, when I’m usually out, I rarely see anyone. I only fish the south branch in Winnebago Co.

Wow. That's wild. You only fish the South Branch in Winnebago County and I almost always fish it in DeKalb County. Do you primarily wade or float this stretch? I had thought about floating from Oak Ridge to, say, Blackhawk or Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve but it looks kind of bony around Deer Run. (I've only been there a couple times, though, so maybe the river was just lower than usual.) Are you tossing Woolly Buggers, Clousers, etc. or primarily using your spinning rod?
I use to hit around the Kirkland area but now that I don’t drive I just stay around the home area. I wade and float. I usually do Oak Ridge to Kish FP. Nice float as long as you take the right route which is skipping the leg that flows by Deer Run. When in my kayak I use spin gear and the fly rod when wading. If the levels drop below the normal flow then kayaking does become a bit bothersome.
Catching dinks. That’s how it’s going. Need to find better quality fish.
Haven't been out since last Saturday. Only caught one but she was real sweet. About 18 inches.
Small suspending Rapala. Northwest of Kirkland on the South Branch.
