BACK ON THE SOUTH

Took Brandy out on the south branch today in search of Brutus.
The DEK12 gage was reading 3.70ft. while the PRY12 gage was showing 6.86ft.
The water level looked good to the eye and the clarity wasn't all that bad either, about 18 inches.
We headed up-stream and found the paddle to be quite easy with the little added extra water.
During normal levels the water flow is more channelized and in some areas onl
y a couple inches deep making it difficult to paddle. A little added water is good on the south branch.
I started off tossing a topwater against some rip-rap but couldn't find anything to attack.
Switched over to a tube and bounced the bottom with no luck.
I saw a current break in the water where it appeared that something was submerged, tossed the tube right at the current break point and a nice 14 inch smallie tagged it right when it hit the water.
Things can only get better as the waters recede.
