Got out with Jim on the south branch. We were both flinging fly rods.
I had my Cortland Pro-Cast Combo, while Jim was a casting a Tenkara fly rod.
Jim picked up 6 smallies with his Japanees rod, and I picked up 2 of the mighty fish with my England combo from the first stretch we fished. I picked both up using top water popper, while Jim was using a new fly he tied up the night before.
After fishing out the first spot, we then drove ourselves to another stretch further upstream. Niether of us had ever waded this stretch before. There's something about wading new water that makes me feel the age of 12 once again. I love it!
Jim of course stuck with his Tenkara while I chose to switch to the spin gear for this second stretch. This second stretch proved to be very productive and also a very enjoyable wade to say the least.
The stretch holds many good characteristics for smallmouth, is peaceful, and is long enough to escape from the rest of the world for 5+ hours.
We ended the day with Jim leading the way with 24 fish, and with me bringing up the rear at 16 fish for a total on the day @ 40. Not a bad day.
A few pics from the day.....
