HIGH WATER

The rivers are up about 2 feet so I decided to pay a visit to my Kishwaukee River high water area. The first spot, which was a small eddie, didn't produce squat. It really surprised me not to get even a bite. Thought for sure I would nail BRUTUS here and then I could call it a year. Nope! No such luck. I ran thru the eddie with a couple greenish type tubes, switched to a blueish purple/red flake tube, and then ran thru it with a jerk bait. Nothing.
Moved on up stream to another high water area, put back on one of the greenish tubes and popped me a tough fighting smallmouth. I didn't bother to tape it but I would guess it would have been somewhere in the 14's. Tossed the tube back out and hooked into another smallmouth that pulled, tugged, and then jumped
spitting the tube back at me. I would guesstimate it at about the 17 range.
Started to get cold so I packed it in and called it a day.
