Good Times, Bad Times

July 9, Kish South Branch;

Drop the kayak in the Kish south branch and did a float down and a paddle back up. The south branch still seems a little too stained and the bite was not all that hot.

Ended up with only 3 smallies for all my effort all of which were about 13 inches.

July 10, Kish North Branch;

Did a solo wade of the north branch in Boone county.

Got into fish right off the bat using a topwater Chug Bug.

Nailed 3 smallies with the largest measuring at 16 inches. Followed the smallies

up with a pike that looked to be about 24 inches. I didn't get a chance to measure the damn thing because as I was just about to grab it the damn thing thrashed and broke my rod tip. I was a little hot after that but happy that I was close to the car and could easily grab my back-up and continue on fishing.

I fished the Kish up to a little tributary and

continued up the trib to see what action I could find. The trib was very active with smallmouth that attacked like there was no tomorrow.

Got to the top of the trib, tied on a tube and worked my way back.

Ended the day with 14 smallmouth, most of which were of 15 inches, and the one stupid pike.

I'd say that half were topwater and half were tubers.

I had a great time despite the broken rod.

More pics from the day.....
