Columbus Day on the Kish

Took the day off work ('cause that's what some of us have to do) and spent the day floating the lower Kish with Jude. We put in at Kish F.P. and floated downstream approx. 9 miles to the mouth at the Rock River.
The morning started off cool but warmed up quickly during the day.
Jude slung the skill stick all day with a white and sometimes yellow Jude-Bug tied on at the end of his line, and boated 24 smallmouth ranging from dinks up to 16 inches, and also including quite a few 14 and 15 inchers that were nice and fat.
I went with the Power Rangers spin gear, tossing a popper with one rod and a tube tied onto the other rod. I ended the day with
9 smallmouth, 16.5 being the largest, a small pike, and a small walleye. Most came on the tube.
Wildlife that we were blessed enough to see included:
bald eagle, turkeys, deer, and an open vested bearded Paul Trybul king fisher.
I had a great time and was happy to spend Columbus Day floating and exploring water that Jude had never been before.
