What a screwed up year it has been this year. The damn rain will just not stop.
Normally I would have a number of posts up by now but with the rivers staying at a high and dangerous level up to this point, getting out hasn't been much of an option. Gladly I will be heading off to the Sylvania Wilderness next week to get my much needed smallmouth fix.
I have been spending my time away from the Kish making sure all my gear for the Sylvania trip is packed and ready to go. There has been a change with this years trip as 4 out of our group of 6 have dropped out.
So much of my time getting ready has been spent concocting a camp kitchen and how I was going to go about carrying everything in my kayak?

I ended up making 4 canopy poles out of some junk I had laying around and zip tied on a couple tarps. I decided to purchase a small three man raft with a max load of 410lbs. to carry the kitchen.

When all was said and done, I ended up having the raft loaded up with a max load of no more than 150lbs.
I hope my next post will be filled with great stories and pics from my wilderness adventure.

You'll hear from me when I get back.
