I knew going in that the conditions were not quite what I would like. But I'm kind of getting sick of waiting around for those conditions, so I went ahead and tossed the yak in the water and went for a ride to see what kind of action I could find, and to see what changes to the south branch the high water has brought. It was a beautiful day to be out with a temp right around 65 degrees at 7AM as I put in, and in the low 80's as I took out at 2:30PM. with bright sunny skies all day.
The bite sucked. I mainly tossed a Ned Rig and gave Texas Rigged Tube a good workout also. Of course I hadda try some top water but could find any interest in that. I ended up landing only two (2) fish for the outing, the first was a 16 inch Walleye, and the second a tiny little smallmouth of about 8 inches in length.

Notes On The Outing:
I did run across three 3 downfalls that laid across the width of the river. All three (3) were pretty much in the same area. The first was an easy, very short, portage to the right. The second was maybe a 35 yard portage to the left.
The third one was kind of tricky with a swift current and fast approach. There is a slight opening to the right with a bobbing tree trunk and a deep cut river bed. Fact being that I was solo, I chose to the side of safety and portaged to the right thru a mucky little wrap around channel.
