Got out on Kilbuck today (4/27/23) for the first time in about 2 years. The creek looked beautiful! Crystal clear water and the creak bed look much healthier with no grayish dust covering everything like it has in past years. I’m hesitant to get too excited because running clear this time of year is pretty normal. Usually by June it becomes unfishable. But it’s been a couple years and things were suppose to be done by now. Quick note, in 2019 the epa told that the army corps pointed out some bad practices at the dump and told them what had to be done and when it was suppose to be done by. Well Covid happened so I have been allowing extra time to them. Times up! We’ll see how things look going forward.

Hit the creek with a buddy and we were both sling the skill stick. I brought one smallmouth to hand at 13” and js pulled in 3 smallies with the largest going 15 1/2”. Clarity was 3+ft. Level up a bit still.
Not much action as we waded our way up stream. We hadn't even seen any signs of life except for a goose. No bait fish swimming around no nothing. Mid afternoon the action turned on and we could actually see Schoo;s of smallmouth on the move as we took out.

They weren't the biggest, but they do have some meat on them. This guy also has battle wounds from something?
Got out on the ‘Buck again with js on 5/5/23. I picked up 1 scrappy guy at about 13 inches and I think js grabbed 4, none over 13”. Creek still looks nice but ain’t fishing the way I want it to.
