---------------------------------------------------------------------

Like I stated above, it wasn't a good day fishing. Water level was still a bit too high and the stain too heavy.

Fly casting from a kayak that is moving along at a pretty damn good clip is a bit difficult, for me anyway.

Still the itch had to be scratched after waiting all this time for the levels to drop down to a safe level.

I put in at Oak Ridge and floated about 3.5 miles to Kishwaukee River Forest Preserve. As you can see above, there were times that I beached to take a break or to try my luck with some wade fishing.

OVER OR UNDER?

I tried to go over but ended up going under. I had to remove my camera and rod mounts and also had to remove the seat. Then I had to bobber it all the way thru.

For anyone who might kayak the south branch, this downfall would be in the Oak Ridge/ Deer Run area on the stretch that cuts over before Deer Run park.

I made way down the south branch to the confluence with the north and was shocked to see that Julie's Tree was still hanging around.

All in all the conditions were not what I had hoped for but it was still nice to get out and discover some of the changes that weather and high waters have brought. In another week it should be GAME ON!
